Checking an assisted living facility in Florida
Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration licenses assisted living facilities under Part I of Chapter 429, Florida Statutes. Every ALF holds a Standard license for routine personal care. Some also hold specialty licenses so residents can “age in place.”
CMS does not inspect or rate assisted living, so there is no Care Compare page for it. Inspections, complaints and enforcement are handled by the state. Nursing home vs assisted living

- FloridaHealthFinder’s Assisted Living Facility Comparison Tool shows each ALF’s complaints, sanctions and deficiency data. AHCA says it is updated nightly. Source
- AHCA’s Public Record Search posts Statements of Deficiencies, which are violations found during inspections, along with Final Orders. AHCA auto-redacts reports to remove personal health information. Source
- AHCA posts lists of unlicensed facilities it has found operating as ALFs. An unlicensed home has no state inspection record. Source
